We have three nurses in residence at camp. A clinic three miles down the road is available for emergencies and is staffed by several doctors. The Honesdale hospital is about 15 miles away. Ambulance service is close and readily available. Campers are required to have a physical before arriving at camp using the form that we provide.

Prior to the camping season, Oneka is open for inspection most weekends. Our only visiting time for parents of campers is changeover weekend, in the middle of our season.

While campers enjoy lots of mail, the phone is not available to them. Exceptions would include emergencies and very special events. You may call on their birthday. Otherwise, feel free to call us and check on their progress if you are concerned. Visits and phone calls are very disruptive to campers, especially to those that don't receive them!

Parents who sign up with our provider may send e-mails to their campers for a small fee. Learn more about this service by clicking the icon below.

Our menu is planned by a nutritionist and cooked by an excellent staff! We offer a wide range of meals and provide provide salads and vegetarian options often. Our "big" meal is at lunch. Every evening before bed we serve milk and cookies, graham crackers, or fruit.

These are often times for large camp wide activities. Catholic girls are invited to attend Mass at a local Catholic Church on Saturday after dinner. On Sunday morning, one group of campers presents a non-denominational service for the entire camp based on a theme of their choice such as friendship or saving the environment. The staff assist the campers with this project.

A laundry service takes and returns clothing each week. This service is included in camp fees.

Our photographer takes full camp, group, cabin, and individual pictures for each camper. There is no charge as this service is also included in your camp fee. [top]
